The collection of ceramist and interior designer Ann Van Beersel for Artisann is a collection in which the turntable is an important instrument. My collection radiates imperfection and each cup is handcrafted differently and finished with care. My coffee cup "White Dunes" consists of different sizes, the small is a cozy expresso cup, the medium size will give your coffee moment an extra dimension and the mug with or without ear will give you a cozy tea experience.

The "White Dunes" collection is made of natural clay and is glazed by brush with a slightly glossy white pure glaze. Finished on the outside with drops of glaze to accentuate the running effect and irregularity.

As I said, the "White Dunes" cup is turned in 3 sizes: with the small I use 200gr clay, the medium 270gr clay and the large of tea cup or mug 400gr clay. The shape and glaze are basically the same, but because everything is handmade and I want to show this clearly, no cup will be the same. This is my concept and creativity, the opposite of series work. This is my concept and creativity that I want to show clearly.

My work is labeled with the shaped “a” of artisann and is patented.

Ceramics by Ann Van Beersel stands for functionality, beautiful high-quality objects that can be used every day with imperfection as a common thread in my design. The different collections give an authenticity to the decorated table and can be endlessly combined into a breakfast set or a complete set of tableware.

Making process

• The cup is rotated with the turntable
• Is turned from the bottom with the appropriate instruments on the turntable
• Let it dry for one week to make sure the cup is dry
• A biscuit bake in a 950° oven which lasts at least one day and a half
• Is glazed by hand and brush
• Is fired in a glaze kiln at 1250° and lasts two days.

The high bucket is possible because the clay is stoneware clay and can withstand this high temperature. I have also specially designed the glaze recipe for a baking of 1250° and it is unique. This baking and making process determines that the “White Dunes” collection has a high quality, so that pieces jumping, cracking, ... are virtually nil.

Easy to maintain, dishwasher safe and high temperature resistant.
