The beauty of the “natural big decoration scale” lies in its imperfections, and the beauty of the natural clay lies in its color and texture.

While industrial products strive for soulless uniformity, handcrafted pieces celebrate the maker’s unique touch.

Natural ceramics appeal because:

• Earthy Texture: The tactile grain of the clay and the matte finish of natural glazes bring a touch of nature indoors.
• Timeless Aesthetics: The “stylish simplicity” you refer to fits into virtually any interior—from minimalist Scandinavian design to a warm Wabi-sabi aesthetic.
• Unique Character: No two items are exactly alike. The variation in shape and color makes every plate, mug, or vase a small work of art.

The “Naturel” collection is made from a natural beige clay with a slight speckled texture; the exterior is left unglazed, while the interior is glazed with a transparent glaze that ensures food safety. 

The shape and glaze are basically the same, but because everything is handmade and I want to clearly show this, no two pieces will be exactly alike. This is my concept and creativity—the antithesis of mass production.

My work is marked with the stylized “a” of Artisann and is patented.

The collection by ceramicist and interior designer Ann Van Beersel for Artisann is one in which the potter’s wheel plays a key role. My collection radiates imperfection, and each piece is uniquely handmade and finished with care. Ann Van Beersel’s ceramics embody functionality—beautiful, high-quality objects designed for everyday use, with imperfection as the central theme in my design. The various collections bring authenticity to the decorated table and can be endlessly combined to create a breakfast set or a complete dinner service.

Production Process

• The scale is thrown on the potter’s wheel
• The bottom is finished using the appropriate tools on the potter’s wheel
• Left to dry for one week to ensure the cup is completely dry
• Biscuit firing in a 950°C kiln, which takes at least a day and a half
• The scale is dipped in glaze
• It is fired in a 1250°C glaze kiln, a process that takes two days.

High-temperature firing is possible because the clay is stoneware and can withstand these high temperatures. I also specially designed the glaze recipe for a 1250°C kiln, and it is unique. This firing and production process ensures that the “Naturel” collection is of high quality, making cracks, chips, and other defects virtually nonexistent.

Easy to maintain, dishwasher-safe, and resistant to high temperatures.
